I would say that I agree with Ariel Levy’s opinion on Standards of Beauty how society now looks up to basically a unrealistic person. Many woman get so much plastic surgery done on themselves took look like a woman from a magazine, which half the time is photoshopped. To add, in the video about Girls Gone Wild I was surprised that these girls don’t get paid they just do it for fun.
This video depicts the stereotypical nagging wife and a husband ignoring her suggestions
I feel as if body image became important to me at a very young age, I would say between 4th and 5th grade. I don’t feel pressured to look a certain way or fit an ideal masculine or feminine image, but in a sense I think society still does pressure us but we just give in the pressure so easily that it doesn’t feel like we are pressured to do anything. Creating different standards of advertising that is more acceptable of all body types can improve the self esteem of tens and adults. However, some individuals still might be used the advertising society shows us now that it wouldn’t make a difference. Media is a huge part of how we feel about ourselves today. They give us this image on how we are suppose to look like, act like, wear and more.
